Tooky Mills Pub is a local chef owned and operated pub that was established in May of 1999. We are a restaurant that prides itself on creating homemade fare, pan-built sauces and preparing original dishes to order. All of our steaks are hand carved in house and we purchase nothing but the highest quality of seafood, beef, poultry and vegetables.
Hillsborough is an old mill town that has been steadily expanding and changing, while continuing to preserve its historic foundations. The Contoocook Hosiery Mills were Hillsborough’s predominant textile mill that produced underwear and socks around the time of the civil war era. The idea for our pub name comes from the local nickname for Contoocook, Tooky. Throughout the restaurant, you will be greeted by many different relics that span the rich history and growth of our small town. In memory of the mill, the pub has been decorated with artifacts, such as wooden spools, long johns dating back to the civil war, socks and sock stretchers; even our hostess stand was once the mills overseers’ desk. We have also strung various photographs that capture the old Hillsborough community as far back as the 1900’s.
We hope that you enjoy our friendly service and comfortable family atmosphere as well as our great food and spirits. Thank you for your patronage and we look forward to your return!
